The Nintendo 64 (N64) is a video game console made by Nintendo which was available from 1996 to 2002. It uses a 64-bit MIPS CPU and an SGI RCP. As a result of having a different architecture, graphics system, and having different microcodes for each game, it is notoriously difficult to emulate this console. However, there is a prominent collection of software available on Linux that can emulate this console: Mupen64Plus.
Mupen64Plus is a collection of packages and pile of plugins that work together to emulate N64 ROMs, whether official or homebrewed. Mupen64Plus Components will install most packages you will need in order to emulate N64 ROMs.
