Hypr Libraries

Introduction to Hypr Libraries

The Hypr libraries provide needed utilities for the entire Hypr ecosystem. While three of the packages installed in this page are not strictly required (hyprtoolkit, hyprland-qt-support, and hyprland-guiutils), they are needed for some dialog boxes and this book assumes that you have built them.

Hypr Libraries Dependencies

Downloading Hypr Libraries

First create a list of files to be downloaded:

Installation of Hypr Libraries

Create /etc/profile.d/hypr.sh to ensure QML files can be loaded and imported as the root user:

Note

When installing multiple packages in a script, the installation needs to be done as the root user. There are three general options that can be used to do this:

  1. Run the entire script as the root user (not recommended).

  2. Use the sudo command from the sudo package.

  3. Use su -c "command arguments" (quotes required) which will ask for the root password for every iteration of the loop.

One way to handle this situation is to create a short bash function that automatically selects the appropriate method. Once the command is set in the environment, it does not need to be set again.

Command Explanations

-D CMAKE_SKIP_INSTALL_RPATH=ON: This switch makes cmake remove hardcoded library search paths (rpath) when installing a binary executable file or a shared library. This package does not need rpath once it's installed into the standard location, and rpath may sometimes cause unwanted effects or even security issues.

hyprcursor-util

compiles, packs, and unpacks hyprcursor and xcursor themes

hyprland-dialog

shows certain dialog using Qt-6

hyprland-donate-screen

shows a pop up box telling users to donate using Qt-6

hyprland-update-screen

shows a pop up box telling users to update using Qt-6

hyprland-welcome

shows a pop up box that walks the user through setting up Hyprland using Qt-6

hyprland-run

shows a pop up box that can run a given application in PATH using Qt-6 (not a good replacement for Rofi-2.0.0 or other launchers)

generates C++ code from Wayland protocol XML files

hyprwire-scanner

generates C++ code from hyprwire protocol XML files

provides rendering backend API functions

provides API functions for the hyprcursor format

provides graphics utility functions for the Hypr ecosystem

is the Hyprland Quick Style IMPL plugin
